Hope for Holly

Organized by Castaway Critters Pet Rescue, Inc

We've Reached Our Goal!
Whoohoo! I want everyone to know that the goal we set for this ChipIn has actually been met - and exceeded - by donations that have come in through other means. We are so very grateful to everyone who sacrificed a gourmet cup of coffee or dug deep into their pockets to contribute.

If you still want to donate, please do. Holly will have ongoing expenses beyond this goal and any extra funds that come in may go to help other animals at Castaway Critters Pet Rescue as well.

Thank you (with hugs, purrs and head-butts)!
Holly's Expenses
Because of Holly's condition, she requires care, food, supplies and therapy that a "normal" kitty doesn't need. Her estimated expenses for her bare necessities for February through May are as follows (and this does not include her original vet examination, hospital stay and x-rays):

$960 for 3 visits with the neurologist
$245 for special food
$130 for the therapeutic loop device
$68 for miscellaneous supplies

If you would like to donate to help offset these expenses, we would all be very grateful.
Holly's Story
Holly, at 3 months of age, was attacked and injured by a large dog. For several days her owners allowed her to crawl around and fend for herself without making an effort to take her to a vet to assess her injuries. When it became evident to them that Holly wasn't going to walk again, they surrendered her to Castaway Critters Pet Rescue.

As a result of the dog attack, Holly is now partially paralyzed and incontinent. She can't use her hips or legs, which means she can't walk or use a litter box. However, this kitten has spunk and has learned to adapt to her disabilities. Now kept in a house, she is confined to an area for her safety and comfort, and tolerates multiple baths every day to keep her clean. She endures daily physical and other therapies in an earnest attempt to help her regain some -- or all -- use of her back legs.

We have hope for Holly.

While I help Holly recover from her injuries, I share on Facebook our experiences and any information acquired to be of assistance to other care-givers of paraplegic cats. Together we can overcome difficulties and challenges so we can provide our cats the most comfortable life possible.
